Peter A. Holt
Peter Alan Holt, 75, White City, died April 11, 2014 at his home.
Peter was born on August 28, 1938, in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the son of Seward & Kathryn (Vail) Holt.
He attended school in Clear Lake and Brant, South Dakota. Peter was a 22 1/2 yr. veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class, having served in the Viet Nam War. He also was stationed in Korea and Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Civil Service at Ft. Riley for 14 years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and he enjoyed camping, fishing, small engine rebuilding and classical cars.
Peter married Joyce Christensen in January 1968 in Clear Lake, S.D. She died July 20, 1994.
On October 10, 1998 he married Jane Adams in White City. She survives.
Other survivors include: 3 sons, Terry (Kathy) Holt, Huron, South Dakota, Scott (Stephanie) Holt, Salina, KS, Curtis (Nancy) Holt, Oak Ridge, TN; a daughter, Kathryn Bussiere, El Dorado, KS; five Step-Daughters, Rhonda Adams, Campbell, MN., Renee Adams, Fargo, N. Dakota, Robin Dillon, Brownsdale, MN., Rachelle Kern, Menahga, MN., Roxanne (David) Holst, Brownsdale, MN.; two Brothers, John (Kathy) Holt, Palm Springs, Calif., Sam (Eunice) Holt, Maple Lake, MN.; two Sisters, Mary Kathryn (Jim) Ashbaugh, Harleyville, Pennsylavania, Suzanne (Thomas) Ryan, Tampa, FL.; 21 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Peter was preceded in death by his parents. 1 granddaughter, and 1 great grandson.
Peter's wishes were to be cremated.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 18, at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, Juncton City, with Pastor David Anders officiating.
A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m, Friday at the White City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, sent in care of the funeral home.
