Funeral services for Opal H. Carlyon, 93, of Junction City will be held 10 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2007, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Deacon Christian Schultz officiating. Interment will follow the service at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 7 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave. Opal passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Facility in Junction City.
Opal was born November 23, 1913, in rural Geary County the daughter of John L. and Lena (Erichsen) Moyer. Opal was a Head Cook for U.S.D. 475. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She married Edgar Carlyon February 10, 1937, on the family farm in Geary County. He passed away March 13, 2006.
Survivors include her son, Edgar John Carlyon of Junction City; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Angeline Adam, Dorothy Shandy, Hazel Heller, Margaret Rosey and Alberta Garland. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Moyer.
