Mass of Christian burial for Olive Ruth "Ruthie" Owens Pancake, 90, of Junction City will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Xavier's Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. A private family burial will take place prior to the services at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 6-8 pm with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Owens Pancake passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Valley View Senior Life Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441.
Ruth was born and raised in Haddam, KS. She married Tom Owens in 1944 and moved to Junction City. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1986. She was member of St. Xavier's Catholic Church and Circle Four. She and husband Dale were married in 1991. They grew up in Haddam, attended school together, and were high school sweethearts. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to numerous bridge clubs.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Sterling House and Valley View for their devoted care the last three years.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Dale C. Pancake; son, Tom Owens and wife, Dawn, of Richmond, VA; son-in-law, Ken Witt, of Junction City; four grandchildren, Sara Klamert and Fiancé', Dennis Parker, Kari Barnes and husband, Matt, of Junction City; and, Scott Owens and wife, Debra, of Richmond, Va., and Matt Owens and wife, Amy, of Alexandria, VA; four great grandchildren, Connor Klamert and Connor's father, Jim Klamert, Emily Wolfe, and Colin Barnes of Junction City, and Sarah Scott and Chase Owens, of Richmond, Va. Her grandchildren affectionately called her Momo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Owens, and daughter, Cathy Witt.
