Norvilla Marie Baldwin

Norvilla Marie Baldwin, affectionately known as Sis Norvilla, passed away on August 18, 2023, in Junction City, Kansas, at the age of 64. She was born on August 29, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Norville Jones and Delores Flanigan. She was the oldest of five children. Norvilla will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted sister, and cherished grandmother.

Norvilla is survived by her children and oldest twins, Joshua D. Flanigan (Christina) and Angela M. Flanigan, her son Jarrell K. N. Baldwin, and her youngest twins, Myra E. N. Baldwin (Victor Hammond) and Mario D. N. Baldwin. She will also be deeply missed by her 27 grandchildren, Gabriel, Kayla, Annorah, Anne Marie, Joshua II, Joshua III, Kaja, Nevaeh, Deserea, Jasmine, Mya, Jayden, Audreyanna, Adalynn, Jordin, Christopher, Cayden, Rowan, Robert, Mazequin, Victor, Saheim, Khayri, DeCarlos, Brielle, Winter, and her sisters Cozella D. Flanigan and Kim Y. Flanigan.

Norvilla's grandparents, Minne Rae Flanigan and Deathers Flanigan, her parents Norville Jones and Delores Flanigan, her brother Norville Harold Jones Jr "Pee Wee," her youngest sister Sonja Lynn Jones, and her granddaughter Victoriah Nicole Hammond preceded her in death.

Norvilla attended Soldan High School before enlisting in the Women Army Corps. Norvilla decided to reenlist and continued to proudly serve her country in the United States Army. During her military service from 1977 to 1992, Norvilla demonstrated an unwavering dedication and commitment to her country. Her military service was a testament to her courage and selflessness. She served honorably and is a Gulf War Veteran. Norvilla separated from the Army in Fort Riley, Kansas and made Junction City her home.

Upon separating from the military Norvilla decided to pursue higher education at Barton Community College, and Upper Iowa University, Norvilla held various civil positions in and around Fort Riley to support the Soldiers and their families. In 2015 she retired from the Office of Personnel Management giving the Department of Defense a total of 30 years before continuing her lifelong goal of earning her doctoral degree. Norvilla attended Walden University where she earned her Doctorate in Cybersecurity. She played the violin and had a passion for sports, playing tennis, basketball and track. She was a lifelong learner and valued education.

Norvilla found solace and inspiration in her faith. She worshipped at 5th and Adams Pentecostal Church and was a member of the “Precious Pearls” ministry. Norvilla attended bible study, Sunday school, tent revivals faithfully. and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost and accepted Christ as her lord and savior. Norvilla continued to grow in Christ and was led to Living Word International Ministries where she supported the hospitality committee, ABLAZE and Women of Destiny. Norvilla was a volunteer administrative assistant and worked alongside Pastor Nicole and Sister Ducksworth in assisting with administrative affairs for Living Word. She loved her church family and helped wherever she could. Novilla’s spiritual journey was an integral part of her life.

Norvilla Marie Baldwin's memory will forever be treasured by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, resilience, kindness and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
