A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007, with full military honors at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Junction City for Neil O. "Flash" LaFlash, 73, Junction City. Reverend James Callaway will officiate. Mr. LaFlash passed away early Thursday morning at his home in Junction City. A visitation will be held 6 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice at Geary Community Hospital.
Mr. LaFlash was born December 14, 1933, in Northridge, MA. the son of Leo and Lumina (Bouchard) LaFlash. He has resided in Junction City since 1962.
Mr. LaFlash owned and operated Flash Tree Service in Junction City for many years. He retired from the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and two different tours of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 45; VFW; Eagles of Junction City and Manhattan; Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. He participated in many bowling and dart leagues. He enjoyed playing cards.
He married Martha Wiggins in 1959 in Newport News, VA. She survives
Survivors include one son, David LaFlash of Dallas, TX. and three daughters, Jane Marquiss of Lacy, WA; Theresa Briscoe of Junction City, KS. and Maria Atkins of Anthony, KS. He is also survived by one brother, Roland LaFlash and one sister, Pauline Dias both of Massachusettes. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son ,Steven LaFlash and two grandchildren.
