Nancy Ann Burris, 74, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, KS. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Junction City. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the First Baptist Church in Junction City, KS.
Nancy was born April 16, 1942, in Abilene, KS, the daughter of John A. and Ethel (Freeman) Weak, Sr.
She graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1960. She also graduated from Emporia Teachers' College with a BA in Physical Education. Nancy taught school in Leon, KS for a short period of time. She later worked as a para professional for USD 475 in Junction City. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served the church in many different capacities.
She married Dale Burris June 7, 1964, in Abilene, KS.
Survivors include her husband Dale of Junction City, KS; one son, Rodney Burris of The Colony, TX; one daughter, Jennifer Crossman of Junction City, KS; one brother, Earl Weak of Pleasanton, CA; one sister, Donna Marler of Salina, KS; four grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Nathan and Rebecca.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Weak Jr.
