MSG (RET) Robert (Bob) H. Buss, 83, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on February 2, 2024, at Good Shepherd Hospice House.
A memorial service will take place at a later time with full military honors.
Bob was born on February 12, 1940, to Marvin and Adelaide (Means) Buss in Wausau, Wisconsin. He attended D.C. Everest High School in Wisconsin. While attending, he was very active in their sports programs. He even held a state title for several years. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1959, and stayed until retirement.
While on military leave, he came back home to marry his high school sweetheart, Gloria Rose Bentley and enjoyed 47 years together. They raised three boys and one daughter and settled in O' Fallon, Missouri.
Once settled in Missouri, he continued to work in Aviation with McDonald Douglas as a line worker for the F-4 Phantom. Then worked in a jet shop for the 131st Tactical Fighter Wing. He made the decision to leave the 131st to pursue a position with the F.A.A. until his retirement.
He never sat still, he always found time to tinker and work on garage projects.
He is survived by two sons, Robert (Lori) of Westmoreland, Kansas and Charles (Frances) of Wamego, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one son-in-law, Steve.
He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Gloria; one daughter, Angela; one son, Christopher, and one granddaughter, Ashley.
