Morris Davis, 94, of Junction City, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St. with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Xavier's Catholic Church, P.O. Morris was born August 24, 1917, in Natchez, MS the son of Edgar and Charlotte (Skipper) Davis.
Morris served in the United States Army from 1942 until his retirement in 1968. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his military retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and letter carrier retiring in 1984. He was a member of the St. Xavier Catholic Church and the V.F.W.
He married Mary L. Miller December 23, 1941, in Natchez, MS. She preceded him in death September 24, 2008.
He is survived by one son; LeMoine Davis of Junction City, KS, three daughters; Dorothy Murrell and Brenda Davis both of Denver, CO and Norma Jean Davis of Junction City, KS, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
