Mitsuko (Mary) Juarez, 84, passed away after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer on January 14, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2012 at First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street.
Mrs. Juarez was born November 20, 1927, Abutta, Japan to Shigeharu and Yoshino (Tabuchi) Osaki.
She married Delfino C. Juarez October 4, 1951, Sapporo, Japan. They owned and operated DC Auto Salvage. He preceded Mitsuko in death on November 10, 1974. She has been operating the business since then and continued to work there until her illness.
She was a member of First Christian Church. In her earlier days she enjoyed camping and fishing and gardening. Also a favorite past-time was playing Bridge & Cribbage with her husband and friends. She was also a wonderful cook and prepared many Sunday dinners for her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters; Joyce A. (Casey) Thomas, and June M. (David) Clement of Junction City, one brother, Yoshinori Osaki, two sisters; Emiko Sakuta and Takako Ota all of Sapporo, Japan, three grandchildren; Natalie A. (Bryce) Rasco of College Station, TX, Jason Gromlovits of Junction City and Jessica Gromlovits of Fontana, CA and one great-grandson, Jason Gromlovits, II.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Boku Osaki.
