Mike Cleveland, 72, of Junction City, passed away on August 5, 2024, due to an automobile accident. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Johnson and Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS, a vigil service will follow the visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Xavier Catholic Church, Junction City, Kansas, with Fr. Frank Coady officiating. Cremation has taken place, and inurnment will follow at Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, and to St. Xavier Catholic Church.
Mike was born on December 2,1951 to Duke and Nadine (Franklin) Cleveland of Milford, Kansas.
He graduated from Junction City High School, class of 1969. The biggest part of his work career was at Milleson’s Auto Supply (30 years). He recently retired from the Veterans Administration. Mike was a very talented craftsman and carpenter. He made many cherished keepsakes for his family including Hope Chests, Jewelry Stands, Signs, and other assorted items. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Drag racing. He also cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs and the KSU Wildcats. He enjoyed camping, boating and outdoor activities. He loved spending time with his family, and most of all with his ten Grandchildren – they loved their “Papa” and said he is the Best Ever!
He was very involved in Boy Scouts - a Scout Master for Troop #41, he earned the Wood Badge, belonged to the Order of the Arrow and Golden Eagle. He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. On April 24,1982 he married Jane Lichtenhan at St. Xavier's.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of the home in Junction City, KS, his two daughters, Jennifer Ann of Birmingham, AL, and Amanda Beth of Harker Heights, TX; his son, Kevin M. (Julie) Cleveland of Junction City, KS; his sister, Terri (John) Helms of Wakefield, KS; ten grandchildren, Madisyn, Mason, Chance, Ava, Lily Grace, Isabella, Penelope, Junior, Chris and Joel; his nieces and nephews, Suzi, Tyler, Tessa, Evan, Ava, Zak, Josh and Helen Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duke and Nadine Cleveland and his in-laws Don and Mabel Lichtenhan.
