Memorial services for Michael J, Roth, 57, Junction City, KS will be 10:00am Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington with Chaplain (Ret) Ross Kirk officiating, Mike passed away November 23, 2008 at Geary Community Hospital. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to the Geary Community Schools Foundation, Devin Center, P.O. Box 370/123 N. Eisenhower, Junction City, KS 66441 to be used for the playground at Washington Elementary, which was the elementary school that Mike attended.
Mr. Roth was a lifelong resident and businessman in Junction City. He was born on March 29, 1951, in Junction City, KS, to Eugene and Lillian Roth. He owned and operated Mike's Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service in and around the Junction City area as well as Mike's Carpet Warehouse. Mr. Roth also served on the Junction City Fire Department from 1970 to 1980. He was a member of the JC Optimist Club and had many interests which included his great love of racecar driving, motorcycling, and refurbishing/operating rental properties in the local area. Mr. Roth will be remembered by his friends and family as a very hard working, very dedicated, loving, generous, and family oriented man. He enjoyed most overseeing his business ventures daily, as well as spending his free time with his immediate family, his grandson Dominique, and his beautiful new granddaughter Alyssa.
Mr. Roth is survived by his son Michael John Roth Jr., his daughter in-law Kristina Orth, his grandchildren: Dominique and Alyssa Roth, and a step-son Denver Kell. He is also survived by three sisters: Judith (Olson) Kirk and her husband Ross Kirk of Wakefield, Gloria (Roth) Hancock of Junction City and Michele (Roth) Wickwar and her husband Robert Wickwar of Manhattan, and one brother Patrick R. Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Eugene John Roth and Lillian Clara (Thomi) Roth, one sister Janice Marie (Olson) Stanford, his Uncles: Elmer, Arnold, and Lawrence Roth, an Aunt Anna (Thomi) Roth, and his Grandparents: Herman and Marie (Waldbueser) Thomi, and Peter and Rosalia (Moritz) Roth.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Dave Rapp, Jeffery LaBarge, Robert Wickwar, Chris Heller, Gary Heller, Kendall Kirk, Jon Kirk, and Ken Fowler.
