Michael "Mike" J. Henney, 56, of Junction City, passed away January 21, 2005 at his home. Visitation will be Monday, January 24, 2005, 6-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Funeral will be Tuesday, January 25, 2005, 10 a.m. at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Keith Weber officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. Mr. Henney was born September 29, 1948 in Battle Creek, MI, son of Joseph "Joe" and Margaret (LaPeer) Henney. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1966 and attended Kansas State University. Mr. Henney worked at the Commonwealth Theater for a number of years and then became a police officer with the Junction City Police Department for nine years. After that, he did housing maintenance out at Fort Riley for 18 years and most recently was the maintenance man at Bicentennial Manor.
Mr. Henney married Colleen Braddy February 6, 1971 at Sacred Heart Church in Pratt, KS; she survives of Junction City.
Mr. Henney was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, Modern Woodmen of America and very active in the Boy Scouts of America Troop #64.
Survivors include his two daughters, Charlene Henney and Michelle and husband Virlyn Carter, II all of Junction City; two grandchildren, Chance Michael Henney and Christian Lee Carter both of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Ron Ries, Stacey Cooke, Tom Wesoloski, Mike Gross, Wayne Peterson and Chuck Leithoff.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Waters, Brad Frazier, Franciss Bacani, Scott Peterson, Chris Hilton, Jason Wesoloski, Jim Jensen, Carlos Roman, Virlyn Carter, Garry Braddy, Charles M. Braddy, Larry Braddy, Linda Hilton, Lori Leithoff and Teresa Wesoloski.
Organist will be Anita Hernandez and vocalist will be Joan Keating.
Bobbie Dye will play the bagpipe at the graveside service.
