Melvin O. Howard, 79, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Stonybrook Retirement Home in Manhattan, KS. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 9719 Clarks Creek Road, with Pastor Tim McCall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Melvin was born November 14, 1941, in Junction City, KS the son of Merwin Roscoe and Rose Mae (Miles) Howard.
Melvin grew up in Junction City and graduated from Junction City High School. He married Janice Lee Heller. Janice passed away earlier this year on February 5, 2021. Melvin and Janice owned and operated a vacuum service and sales business in Junction City for many years. Melvin was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. Melvin and Janice enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO together vacationing.
Survivors include two daughters; Cathy Andrews of Junction City, KS and Elsie Notestine of Savannah, Ga; two brothers, Milton Howard and his wife Carolynn and Michael Howard and with wife Agatha; four grandsons, Joshua, Justin, Clinton and Jason and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice and daughter Diane.
