Mavis Gearldean "Jerry" Reed Valleroy Hart, 83, of Grandview Plaza, departed this life on April 30, 2014, in Manhattan, Kansas.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Jerry's home in Grandview Plaza.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Alida-Upland Cooperative Parish Church in rural Junction City, KS, 2243 3300 Ave.
Jerry was born May 15th, 1930, in Gorin, Missouri, to parents Pard H. Reed and Loodean Harker Reed.
She attended Gorin High School, graduating in 1948.
On June 11th, 1950, she married her first husband, John Valleroy. To this union were born three children; Johnny Pard Valleroy III, Kathy Dean Coleman, and James Steven Valleroy. She spent many happy years with John, until his death in 1982.
Jerry worked many years as a bookkeeper, and also enjoyed writing many articles throughout the years for several news papers in the many places she lived.
Jerry married her second husband, James Hart, on June 23rd, 1990. He also preceded her in death in 2010.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Valleroy and James Hart; and a son, Johnny Pard Valleroy III.
Jerry leaves behind to cherish her memory a Son, James Valleroy of Tampa, Florida; a Daughter, Kathy Coleman (Tim) of Grandview Plaza, Kansas; Grandchildren, Crystal J. Duval (Bryon), Christopher John Coleman (Lyndsay), James T. Valleroy (Cassandra), Stephanie Pitchford (Chris Two), and Brian Valleroy. She also leaves behind her Great-Grandchildren, Haley Marie Valleroy, Corrine J. Duval, and Talon C. Pitchford.
In lieu of flowers, Jerry wanted to encourage her friends and loved ones to make a donation in her memory to Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
Cremation will be under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel.
