Maurice W. Martin, 89, of Junction City, passed away on August 4, 2015 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home, Clay Center, KS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating, burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be held, Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Memorials have been designated to the KSU Cancer Research Fund, P.O. Box 9200, Shawnee Mission, KS 66201-1800, the American Legion Baseball, 201 E. 4th, Junction City, KS 66441 and the Geary County Fish & Game Association, K-244 Spur, P.O. Box 631, Junction City, KS 66441.

Maurice was born May 27, 1926 Miltonvale, KS to Varney C. and Lottie (Hammond) Martin. He was a Fireman Second Class in the U S Navy and was medically discharged in 1945. He was the Manager of Reno Hardware in El Dorado, KS for 10 years prior to moving to Junction City, KS in 1965 where he was the Manager for L & L Van Lines for 24 years retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, The Elk's Lodge, the American Legion and the Geary County Fish & Game Association and was a volunteer for numerous events of those organizations. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He married Evelyn Swanburg October 6, 1946 Clay Center, KS, she preceded him in death March 18, 2010.

Maurice is survived by three children, Linda Ehm (Sonny), Junction City, KS; Phil (Cathi) of Mission Viejo, CA and Randy (Sherry) of Chapman, KS; Five Grandchildren, Jon Ehm (Laura) of Waterford, CT, Tiffany Melvin (A.J.) of Downington, PA, Ashley Picerno (Tim) of Portland, OR, Jennifer Jones (Brian) of Orinda, CA and Heather Martin and her fiance' Will Hitchcock of Kansas City, KS, he is also survived by five great-grandchildren and his brother-in-law Tom Doyle of Eagle River, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Gwendolyn Martin and Shirley Doyle and one brother, Varney Martin, Jr.
