Mary K. Seley, 102, of Junction City, KS, departed this life on May 5th, 2014, in Junction City.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Mary K.'s life at 2:00 pm Friday, May 9th, 2014, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
She was born May 25th, 1911, in Geary County, to parents James and Grace (Limbocker) Marston.
She spent her early life on the farm. Mary K. attended grade school at the Acker's Schoolhouse. She spent her first two years at Chapman High School before moving to Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1932. During high school, she was involved in both athletics and in the school orchestra.
During her professional life, Mary K. had the opportunity to work at several different places, including Junction City Post Office, the Junction City Republic Newspaper, and Browns Floral Shop. Mary K. worked with the Bowles and Chase Plumbing Company as a clerk for 38 wonderful years, retiring in 1973.
She was married to her loving husband, Walter Seley, in 1941. Mary K. and Walter spent many years traveling with the Shriners. They enjoyed doing good work and caring for others in any way they could. They spent many happy years together before his death in 1990.
Mary K. loved her family and friends, They were her life. She enjoyed going to picnics, being outdoors, and enjoyed working with flowers and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a brother, Sam Marston; nephews, Donald Marston, Jr. and Jeff Filby; a niece, Grace McGhghy; and long-time friends, Nila Filby and Kenneth and Laverne Chase.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory a brother, Donald Marston, Sr.; nephews, William Marston, Robert Marston, and Marvin Marston; and nieces, Cindy Gill, Susan Moyer, and Linda Filby-Fisher.
She also leaves behind several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage friends and loved ones to leave a donation in Mary K.'s memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children or to the First United Methodist Church in Junction City.
