Mary A. Schafer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Schafer, 96, of Junction City will be 10 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating, burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 6-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Mrs. Schafer passed away at Geary Community Hospital on May 29, 2006. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Cemetery, in c/o Harold Becker, 728 Eisenhower Drive, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mrs. Schafer was born August 26, 1909, Ellis, KS to Frank and Barbara (Weber) Schuster. She married Frank Schafer in December of 1929 he preceded her in death December 29, 1990. She was a homemaker and a resident of Junction City since 1943. She was a member of the St. Xavier Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Francis P. Schafer of Junction City, KS and John E. Schafer of Bartlett, TN, three daughters, Gladys E. Wensel of Tucson, AZ, Alma M. Moyer of Commerce, TX and JoAnn LaBarge of Overland Park, KS, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lawrence Schafer, six brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Brandon LaBarge, Chris Cheney, Ken Moyer, Kyle Cheney, Randy Moyer and Jon Glass.
