August 6, 1918 — December 23, 2020

Marvel L. Dalton, 102, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the St. John's Cemetery at Alida. Pastor Erik Graefe will officiate. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Zion United Church of Christ, 1811 McFarland Road, Junction City, KS 66441.

Mrs. Dalton was born August 6, 1918, in Dickinson County to Jacob "Jake" J. and Louise (Thomi) Altwegg. She attended Windsor School eight years and graduated from Dickinson Community High School in 1936, and Humphrey's Business College in Stockton, CA in December 1965.

She married Bonnie D. Kirk on January 16, 1939 in Alida. He preceded her in death. She married Lewis A. Dalton on November 12, 1953.

She lived in the Geary County area over 50 years. She was a homemaker and worked part time. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for ten years. She was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Church at Alida in 1931.

She was a member of Melia Chapter #116 order of Eastern Star, Junction City, KS and a Dual member of Wakefield Chapter #441, Wakefield, KS.

Survivors left to mourn her loss are her son Bill Kirk of Las Vegas, NV; and was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Bertha Otto and husband Arthur, Lillie Ritter and husband George, Louise Miller and husband Raymond, Emma Jones and husband Gordon; two brothers, Laurence Altwegg and wife Murriel and Herman Altwegg and wife Gladys. She was also preceded in death by a niece Maxine Lathrop and husband Gerald "Jerry", nephews Richard Thomas and wife Beverly, Raymond Otto, granddaughter Jana Marie Schauer, great granddaughter Kristen Nikals Mayer, step-granddaughter Sarah Chandler and Marci Chandler (wife of step-son Bill Chandler).
