Martha K Hoover

Graveside Memorial services for Martha K. Hoover 92, Junction City, will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00am at Highland Cemetery with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Mrs. Hoover passed away August 15, 2005 at Alterra Sterling House. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoover-Koken Foundation 811 N. Washington, Junction City, KS and/or Episcopal Church of the Covenant Permanent Endowment Fund, 314 N. Adams, Junction City, KS 66441.

Martha was born February 25, 1913 in Carthage, MO the daughter of Louis Edward and Marion Trabue Hines Koken. She was raised in Carthage and attended schools there. She was a graduate of Barstow School in Kansas City, MO. She also attended the University Of Missouri in Columbia, MO.

She married Charles Lester Hoover October 12, 1935 at St. Andrew' Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Martha was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Covenant and a member of the Vestry, Altar Guild and choir of the church. She was a charter member of the Junction City Garden Club, Charter member of the Geary Community Hospital Auxiliary, Charter member of the Girl Scout Council and a volunteer of the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

The Martha K. Hoover Women's Health Center at Geary Community Hospital is named in her honor for her many years of service. She and her late husband created Hoover-Koken Foundation which has provided scholarships for many individuals to pursue post high school education
