Maria E. Lugo Alers

A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday for Maria E. Lugo Alers at the Iglesia de Dios (Casa de Dios) Pentecostal Church 424 N. Jefferson in Junction City with the Reverend Angel Enriquez officiating. Mrs. Alers will have a visitation at the church one hour prior to service time. Maria E. Lugo Alers, 93, Junction City, died May 10, 2006, at the Geary Community Hospital.

Alers was born July 24, 1912, in Anasco, Puerto Rico the daughter of Eustaquio and Maria Gil Valle Lugo. She has lived in the Junction City area since 1982.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She worked as a nurse for 22 years in the Municipal Hospital in San Juan Puerto Rico.

Alers is survived by her son Jose Anibal Cruz from Carolina Puerto Rico and her daughter Pilar Quinones from Junction City, Kansas. She is also survived by an adoptive daughter Lisa Alvares. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jose Anibal, Brunilda Amarilis, Samairy, Deidre, Pilar Lilita, and Jose Gabriel. She is survived by great grandchildren; Shariff, Angelica, Marc, Jose Anikhan. She is also survived by her adoptive grandchild Alex Yajayri.

Casket bearers will be Anibal Cruz, Alexander Yambo, Omar Negron, Joel Montanez, jorge Ibarra and Jeronimo Martinez. The honorary casket bearers will be Mario Perez, Luis Mejias, Luis Acevedo and Lino Ruedas.
