Maria Angelica Aleman, 70, of Junction City, passed away on June 8, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at St. Xavier Catholic Church. Fr. Gnanasekar Kulandai will officiate. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Marys Cemetery.
Angelica was born December 18, 1951 in San Pedro Nonualco, El Salvador the daughter of Nicholas and Juana (Ventura) Romero. She was very well loved in her town. She was crowned Reina de San Pedro Nonualco several years.
Angelica came to the United States in 1981 having settled in Brooklyn, NY. She was very well known for her cooking, specifically pupusas. She moved to Junction City, KS to live with her daughter Stephanie in 2008. Angelica enjoyed her walkabout walks all over Junction City. She walked everyday and had very specific destinations with specific stops. She was a very social person and popular where ever she lived.
She married Jose Aleman November 15, 1982 in New York, NY.
Survivors include her husband Jose of Bronx, NY; two daughters, Stephanie Hager of Junction City, KS and Jennifer Romero of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Matthew, Jayden, Jayla, Liam, Ava, Terrah and Nolan; one great-grandson, Kenai; two step-grandchildren, Allyson and Elena; three sisters, Maria Rubenia, Maria Esmeralda and Maria Olimpia; one brother, Jorge Romero.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Nicholas Aleman and one brother, Israel Romero.
