Margarete M. Nowakowski, 95, of Council Grove, formerly of Junction City, died August 14, 2015 at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. Margarete was born January 4, 1920 in Massenheim, Germany, the daughter of Johannes & Julianna (Scharkopf) Eisler.
Margarete graduated from high school in Germany, and moved to Junction City with her husband, who was in the U.S. Army, in 1964. She was a homemaker, and also worked for a time as a clerk at the Gibson's Store in Junction City. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City.
Margarete married Norman L. Nowakowski on April 19, 1955 in Frankfurt, Germany. Norman died January 24, 2008. Survivors include: 3 sons, Norman Nowakowski and his wife Pat, Graham, Texas, Pete Nowakowski and his wife Rosemary, Council Grove, and Robert Nowakowski, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19 at Highland Cemetery in Junction City with Fr. Gale Hammerschmidt presiding.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice, sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS 66441.
