Margaret M. Simonsmeier, 76, of Junction City, passed away on October 13, 2022 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Cremation will take place. Her ashes will be taken to be buried in Plymouth, WI.
She was born on December 26, 1945, to Fay and Hilda (Orthmann) Pomeroy.
On July 29, 1977, she married Eugene Simonsmeier where they lived in Howards Grove, WI, for forty-five years. Gene and she started a corporation, Lightening Express, utilizing his nickname “Lightening”. They enjoyed traveling, NASCAR and Green Bay Packer Games. She enjoyed gardening and ensuring that the berms around the yard where full of beautiful flowers and bird watching. Together they raised six daughters together to make a large family.
Margaret is survived by her children Jeri Gumtow, and Samantha (William) Allen; three stepdaughters: Vicki Simonsmeier, Patricia Simonsmeier and Cindy (Michael) Cartright; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters Karen (John) Kohler and Penny Broadway.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her parents, her daughter Tina Campion, sister Marge Glander, and niece Kim Breckheimer.
The entire family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Valley View Senior Living, Heritage Hall, especially the nurses who took care of Margaret on a day to day basis. Our family will be forever grateful for the support and care that they provided us.
