Funeral services for Mar Tye Madkins, Sr., 78, Junction City, Kansas will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue with Mar Tye Madkins, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Mr. Madkins passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, at the Valley View Nursing Home.
Mr. Madkins was born December 5, 1927 at Pine Hill, TX to Luke K. and Tredillis D. (Hinchen) Madkins. He served in the U S Army for over 20 years retiring as an E-5. He later worked for Mobil Traveler and owned Madkins Real Estate.
He was married to Elisabeth Fuchs, she preceded him in death February 21, 1984. He later married DeAnna Lynn Allison.
He is survived by his ex-wife, DeAnna of Topeka, KS, eight sons, Robert Madkins of Germany, Mar Tye Madkins, Jr. and Gene Madkins both of Jacksonville, FL, Morris Madkins of Houston, TX, Norris Madkins of Orlando, FL, Jason Madkins, Justin Madkins and Dwayne Madkins all of Topeka, KS, five daughters, Earlene Brown and Brigitte Southall, Denise Triggs all of Jacksonville, FL, Doris Davis of Junction City and Angel Madkins of Topeka, KS, two brothers, Luke K. Madkins, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Jerry B. Madkins, Stephenville, TX, six sisters, Eva Jo Bailey, Doris Madkins and Sheila Morris all of Henderson, TX, Lela Sue Lacy-Madkins of Ontario, CA and Atwill M. O'Neal of Junction City, seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
