Mae (Baresel) Ascher, 93, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim McCall officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the Lutheran Hour.
She was born on July 1, 1925, in Junction City, KS to Edward and Victoria (Kramer) Baresel.
She married Clyde Ascher. They lived their entire married life at their home on Clark's Creek Road.
Mae worked as a bookkeeper many years for Morrison Grain Company in Junction City. She was a lifelong member of the Clarks Creek EEU. After her retirement, she did volunteer work for the Geary County Historical Society. Mae was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she also served as the church treasurer for many years. She was involved with 4-H and the Geary County Fair.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include three sons, Martin Ascher and Terry Ascher both of Junction City, Dennis Ascher of Manhattan Beach, CA; one daughter Helen Kovac of Junction City; three sisters, Ruth Gfeller of Junction City, Bernice Munson and Irma Sjo both of Manhattan; grandchildren, Ryan, Daryl, Loren, Dani, Jeff, Morgan and Sidney; great-grandchildren, John, Aubrie, Jeffrey, Bennett, Jaxson, and Caleb.
