Memorial Services for Luzena L Clark, 81, of Junction City, will be held at 6:00PM, Friday, September 21, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Pastor Ronnie Roberts will officiate. The family will greet friends and relatives after the service. Cremation has taken place. Luzena died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at the Altera Sterling House of Junction City, where she had been a resident for 6 weeks.
She was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Gap, TX. the daughter of Fred & Tina (Everett) Tidmore. At the age of 2 her mother died after the birth of her sister. She was raised by her Uncle John and Lessie Tidmore, since her father could not care for 3 small children.
She met Elmer Clark in 1944 when he attended her birthday party as the date of another girl. They ended up falling for each other and were married just a little over a month later on Oct. 21, l944. They moved to Kansas after the war in 1946, bringing Aunt Lessie along. She lived with them until her death in 1985.
Luzena worked for several grain elevators as a bookkeeper from 1950 to 1992. She was known for her friendly, helpful attitude and enjoyed visiting with all the farm families during harvest time. After retirement she and Elmer traveled until his health failed. Luzena enjoyed visiting on the phone with her relatives in Texas and friends she made through the time they owned the apartments on the corner of 4th & Jefferson.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Junction City, Christian Women's Club, and a member of the Geary Co. Extension Board. An avid gardner, she was always outside working in her flowers, and could not stand to throw any plant away. Consequently, her yard was full of color from spring to fall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother Kenneth Tidmore of Comanche, TX; and one sister Orene Doty of California.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Don Rush of Junction City; two grandsons Tim Rush & his wife Jennifer of Augusta, and Jeff Rush of Junction City; three great-grandchildren Bailey & Justin Ritchey, Rylan Marie Rush of Augusta, and several nephews and nieces.
