Memorial services for Luwana J. Sherwin, 85, Junction City, will be held at 10:30am Friday, November 18, 2005 at First Baptist Church with Rev. James Callaway officiating. A graveside inurnment service will follow at 3:00pm at Centralia Cemetery, Centralia, KS. Mrs. Sherwin died November 13, 2005 at Bicentennial Manor. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church 624 N. Jefferson, Junction City, KS 66441.
Luwana was born December 15, 1919 in Junction City, KS the daughter of Barnard and Flora (Bolan) Riley. She was a active member of First Baptist Church for over fifty years and a fifty year member of Eastern Star. She sang with the Junction City Troubadours under the direction of Manuel Pasquil. Luwana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will truly be missed by all.
Luwana was married to Alvin N. Schubert of Centralia, KS on September 1, 1938, Alvin died June 21, 1980. She married Reed A. Sherwin, Junction City, KS on June 9, 1981. Reed died February 24, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, William Schubert of Green Bay, WI and Michael Schubert of Clayton, OH, and one daughter Mary Putman of Shawnee, KS; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Organist will be Florence Whitebread.
