Luise Ryan, 90, of Junction City passed away March 13, 2019 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City, which was the 60th anniversary of her coming to the United States.
Luise was born February 24, 1929 in Bad Friedrichshall, Germany, the daughter of Josephina (Roth) and Freiderich Windbiel.
Luise and her son Heinz immigrated the United States on March 13, 1959. Luise married Robert O. Ryan on August 11, 1964 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Throughout their marriage they in lived in various duty stations in the United States, settling in Junction City, Kansas.
Luise worked at various locations throughout the community, including Geary County School District, Geary Community Hospital, and the Good Samaritan Center. She was an avid bowler and loved to cook her favorite German specialty meals for her family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching. Luise also loved shopping, especially on QVC.
Luise is survived by her son, Heinz Wallace and wife Pam, Junction City; 3 grandchildren, Chris Wallace, Sara Wallace, and Melissa Ice; 4 great grandchildren, Brittany, Bryce, Lilly, and Emma; 2 brothers, Freiderich (Margaret) Windbiel and Gephard Windbiel; and many nieces and nephews. Luise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert O. Ryan; a brother; two sisters; and a grandson, Peter M. Wallace.
It was Luise's wish to be cremated.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Ft. Riley Post Cemetery on Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington, Junction City.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the Johnson Funeral Home no later than 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday to be able to go in procession and gain access to Ft. Riley.
