Funeral services for Loyd Canaday, 81 of Junction City are Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 1429 St. Mary's Rd. with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Mr. Canaday passed away at his residence on January 25, 2011. Memorial contributions may be made to the Junction City Noon Kiwanis, P.O. Box 775, Junction City, KS 66441.
Loyd was born May 24, 1929 in Hitchcock, Oklahoma to James Milton & Myrtle (Phillips) Canaday. He later married Betty Mae Coates on April 23, 1947 in Wellington, KS. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2010.
Mr. Canaday was a Manager for Dillons in Junction City for over 40 years. He was a member of First Christian Church. Loyd dedicated his time for the past 53 years as a member of the Junction City Noon Kiwanis and serving as the club's secretary for almost 20 years and he was an avid golfer.
He is survived by four children, Thomas Dale Canaday of Leavenworth, KS, Tracy Dean Canaday of Abilene, KS, Terry Don Canaday of Junction City and Tamara Diane Van Allman of Lakewood, WA. 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Loyd was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Mae Canaday, granddaughter Tiffany Canaday and great-granddaughter Tressa Canaday.
