Funeral services for Lowell F. Stites, 82, of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, December 29, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor James Callaway officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005, 6 to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will be held at Ashton Cemetery. Mr. Stites passed away December 26, 2005 at St. Francis Regional Hospital, Wichita, KS. Memorials may be given to The New Tribe Mission, c/o Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, P.O. Lowell was born January 5, 1923 in Atlanta, KS the son of Elliot N. and Stella I. (Fry) Stites. He was a graduate of Hope High School, Hope, KS. He spent his early years as a farmer in Central Kansas, before relocating to Junction City, KS where he was a residential contractor. In his retirement years he stayed active managing rental properties. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Junction City for many years. He was also an active member of the Gideon Ministry.
Lowell was married to Grace Hauge in 1982 in Junction City, she survives. Other survivors include five sons, Kenneth of Texas, Donald and Rodney of Tennessee, Robert and James of Kansas; Four stepchildren Todd and Tim Hauge of Nevada, Terri Hauge Bestgen and Tammi Hauge of Montana: fifteen grandchildren and Nineteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Claudine Wager Stites, two brothers, Darby and Floyd and two sisters, Gay Anderson and Dixie Doolittle Anderson Holeman.
Pallbearers will be Brent Stites, Andrew Stites, Adam Stites, Bart Stites, Jon Paul Stites and Matt Johnson.
