Former Junction city resident, Lover Marie (Woods) Anderson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, 89, died, May 14, 2012, at her home in Silver Springs, MD. She was born Sep. 6, 1922 in Elizabeth, LA to Lover Woods and Jimmie Mae (Holmes) Woods. She married L.W. Anderson, Jan. 12, 1941 and had a love-filled marriage of 50 years. She moved from Jonesboro, LA to travel the world with her husband, L.W. Anderson, SSG Retired who preceded her in death in 1990. They retired in Junction City, KS in 1971 and always considered it as their home.
Lover Marie was raised in a Christian home and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ until the day she died. She was actively involved in Sunday school, providing Christian coloring books, refreshment or other supplies to children. One of her greatest joys in life was her love of children. She served many years as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and was a Car Pool Driver transporting students to class and other school activities. She helped to raise the neighborhood children where ever she lived.
Mrs. Anderson was very proud to be a military wife. Given a second, she would take hours to proudly tell of her husband who served in four wars, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and the Cold War and retired after 30 years. Then she would tell of her daughter, who began her Army career as a Private and retired as a Colonel after 31 years. She continued to proudly speak of her son who followed his father into Field Artillery, serving 15 years active duty, retiring after completing his service between the National Guard and Army Reserves. She would conclude telling of her many adventures while travelling around the world.
Life was not always easy, yet she was thankful for every day and shared her joy of life and lessons learned.
She is survived by a sister, Essie Woods. Six brothers preceded her in death, Ben Charlston, Cornell, Choice El, Charles Jr., Sandy E., and Jimmy W. Woods. Her surviving children are Diana A. Raynor (Dean) and Thomas J. Anderson and grandsons; Dustin M. Raynor, Jamauel T., Jared T. and Joseph F. Anderson.
