Retired Staff Sergeant Loring E. Asbury, 77, of Junction City died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Rev. Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the VFW Post #8773, 1215 S. Washington, Junction City, KS 66441
Mr. Asbury was born April 15, 1928, in Pasadena, California, to Vernon R. and Elizabeth B. (Williams) Asbury.
Mr. Asbury married Ruth A. Carroll April 17, 1949, Fort Riley, KS. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, serving during Korea and Viet Nam. He was last stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he retired on January 31, 1967. Asbury was a life member of V.F.W. Post #8773, as well as T.R.E.A. and D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Junction City, three sons, Michael L. Asbury and Galen R. Asbury both of Junction City, and Anthony B. Asbury, of Atlanta, Ga. He is additionally survived by seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
