Lonnie I. O'Bryan, 76, of Wakefield, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. Lonnie was born Jan. 2, 1937 in Beulah, Florida, the son of Lonnie & Ethel Jane Sunday O'Bryan. He graduated from Pensacola (Fl.) High School and was a retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was in law enforcement in several small Kansas towns after retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 101 at Clay Center, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Lonnie married Jerita Horn on April 30, 1956 in Sabine Parish, La. She survives. Other survivors include 3 sons, Lonnie O'Bryan, Cartlton, Kerry O'Bryan, Milan, Michigan, and Devin O'Bryan, Beloit; 3 daughters, Tracy Noel, Gove, Karly O'Bryan, Wakefield, and Gillian O'Bryan, Glendale, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Sean O'Bryan, Zane O'Bryan, Shannah Estell, Ruby Noel, and Ivee Noel.
Cremation has taken place.
Inurnment will occur at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Manhattan.
