Lola Ellen Thrush-Brighton-Marston, 96, of Junction City, KS died August 10, 2016 at Geary Community Hospital.
She was born February 23, 1920 on a farm west of Wakefield, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse John Thrush and Florence Vivian Male. She grew to womanhood on farms near Wakefield. She attended Golden Ridge, a one room rural grade school and Wakefield High School.
On January 9, 1945 she married Donald Brighton. They lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming until his release fro the military. Returning to Milford, Kansas, they spent the next 45 years in and around Milford. She was Postmaster at Milford for 20 years. She was a member of Eastern Star at Wakefield for over 50 years. Lola attended Mizpah Evangelical Church as a girl. She attended Milford Congregational Church until she moved to Junction City and becoming a member of Highland Baptist.
Her husband Donald Brighton died December 22, 1996. On January 21, 2004 she married Donald Marston he preceded her in death January 10, 2015. Also preceding her in death was her parents, her sister, Velma Case; her brother, Orval Thrush; one niece, Patricia Snell and her great niece, Wendee Murray and her step-son, Donald Marston, Jr.
Surviving her is one brother, Roy Thrush; step-son, Marvin Marston; step-daughter, Cynthia Gill and husband Dale.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016 at Penwell-GabelFuneral Home with Pastor Brad Seifert officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been designated to the Highland Baptist Church.
