Funeral services for Lois V. Grimes, 99, of Junction City, KS will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at Second Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Lois passed away March 27, 2005. She will lie in state after 5:p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, no visitation is planned. Lois was born January 20, 1906 at Ellsworth, KS the daughter of Lewis Neal and Almeada (Glenn) Grimes. She had lived in Junction City, KS since 1918 and graduated from Junction City High School in 1924 and attended Kansas State Teaches College in Emporia, KS for 3 years ,getting a teacher's certificate. Lois received a degree in Business Administration at KSU in 1952. She worked for the Historical Society and Pawnee Place Housing Project. She worked for Civil Service at Ft. Riley in the Finance travel and retired in 1974 after 28 years as a supervisor .
Lois was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, AAUW and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. .
She is survived by a foster daughter Annie Carrington Norman and a foster sister Georgia Culumns of Junction City, Ks.; 4 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Frances Belle Grimes.
Pallbearers will be Harrison Black, Leo Porter, Aaron Berry, Jimmy Williams, Cortez McKinnis and Walter Pickney.
