Lois M. Stuart

Lois M. Stuart, 91, formerly of Wakefield, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman. Lois was born August 21, 1925 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Cluster and Mary Alice (Flint) Hall. Lois attended school in Mississippi.
Lois married F.D. Stuart on Dec. 28, 1940 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. As F.D. was in the military, they were stationed in many places throughout the world during his military career. His last duty station was at Fort Riley.

After F.D.'s discharge from the military, they remained in the Fort Riley area, and settled in Junction City and then later moved to Wakefield. They were the owners and operators of the Lakeview Restaurant in Wakefield for 20 years. F.D. passed away on November 12, 1988.

Lois was very active in the Wakefield community and was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Assembly (Chapman Chapter #645), where she served as Assembly President (1991-92). She was also a long-time member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Wakefield, as well as a strong supporter of the Wakefield Museum.

Survivors include: her daughter, Patricia Walls and her husband, Lawrence, of Wakefield; a brother, Clark Hall, of Wicomico Church, Virginia; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her husband F.D.; a son, Tommy Keith Stuart in 2002; and by three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Wakefield United Methodist Church in Wakefield, with Rev. Joohyang Kim and Pastor Todd Britt presiding. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield. The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening, October 5, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
