Lois Darlene Augustine

Lois Darlene Augustine, 71, of Junction City, KS died on August 24, 2007 at Geary Community Hospital. In accordance with her wishes, a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Youth Conservation Education in c/o the Geary County Fish and Game Association, P.O. Box 631, Junction City, KS 66441. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

She was the daughter of Charles A. and Leona Faye (Shannon) Hurt. Darlene graduated from Junction City High School and married Edward L. Augustine in Junction City on October 15, 1956 and retired from civil service at the Fort Riley commissary in 1998.

Darlene had been a Girl Scout Leader, past President of Lincoln School PTA and had been a Hunter instructor as well as working behind the scenes in that program. She was the director at one time for meals for seniors and loved gardening, bird watching and genealogy.

She is survived by her husband Ed, three children and four grandchildren, son; Edward C. Augustine of Edwardsville, KS, daughter; Gladys Case and grandsons Jacob E. Case, and Jered M. Case of Olathe, KS, and son; Michael J. Augustine and wife Shari (Shane) Augustine and granddaughters Allison and Michaela of Edwardsville, KS.
