Services for Lloyd Gugler, 93, of Junction City, KS will be held at Lyona United Methodist Church,Monday, January 13, 2003,at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Linda Toms will officiate. Lloyd died January 8, 2003 at Valley View Professional Care Center. Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, 2003, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Lyona Cemetery, Geary County, KS. Memorial may be made to The Lyona United Methodist Church, 1850 Wolf Road, Junction City, KS 66441. Lloyd was born March 28, 1909, at Woodbine, KS to Oscar H. and Wilhelmina C. (Biegert) Gugler. He graduated from Woodbine High School, he then attended KSU and received his degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. Lloyd married Helen Z. Amick, June 25, 1939 at Marion, Kansas, she preceded him in death March 1, 1998. Lloyd taught Vocational Ag at Carbondale, Redding, Ellsworth, Holton and La Cygne, KS, he came to Junction City, KS from La Cygne, KS in 1959. He also taught at Custer Hill Elementary at Fort Riley, KS, he retired from teaching in 1973. He was very active in Kiwanis and the Boy Scouts. He received an award for being a member of the Kiwanis for over 50 years, and had served as Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis.
He was a Scout Master for over 40 years, serving over Pack and Troop #64 out of the First United Methodist Church, he was the recipient of the Award of Merit for his district, he also received the Silver Beaver Award, he served as the Assistant Scout Master for the National Jamboree for the Boy Scouts and served as a Round Table Commissioner for the Cubs and Boy Scouts. He was the first Chairman of the Senior Citizens Board and was instrumental in starting the Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the Lyona United Methodist Church, Alumni of the Alpha Gamma Rue Agricultural Fraternity. Survivors: One son: Gary Gugler of Tiburon, CA; One Grandchild;and Three Great Granddaughters.Preceded In Death By: Parents; One Son: Larry Gugler; Two Brothers: Carl and VincentGugler, and Two Sisters: Ernestine Koons, and Dorothy FromanCasket bearers: Marc Gugler, Carroll L.
