A visitation and memorial service for Lloyd Ervin Edgar, 84, of Junction City will be 6 - 7:30 p.m. with memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue with Pastor Brian Emig officiating. Cremation has taken place. Future inurnment will take place at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Edgar passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice at Geary Community Hospital c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, Kansas 66441 and/or Christian Motorcyclist Association, P.O. Box 9, Hatfield, AR 71945.

Lloyd Ervin Edgar was born October 13, 1923, to Loren Lee and Jennie Ella (Loveland) Edgar in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Lloyd joined the Marines serving in the South Pacific during WW II. After his discharge, he returned to LaCrosse, Wisconsin where he had been raised. There he met his future wife. On January 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Helen Mae Ness.

In 1947, he joined the Army making the military his career. He attended Officer Candidate School at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. While stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado, he participated in the ski-troop winter maneuver "Operation Timberline" high in the Colorado Rockies with the 38th Regimental Combat Team. He also trained with the 10th Mountain Division. On weekends, Lloyd gave ski lessons at Cripple Creek resort area.

After retiring as an officer from the Army in 1965, Lloyd Edgar and his family settled in Junction City, Kansas.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Helen of 61 years. Other survivors include his daughter Nancy Weary and her husband Robert, Jr. of Evergreen, CO, two sons, Terry Edgar and his wife Lisa of Wichita, KS and David Edgar and his wife Marie of Junction City, KS. He is also survived by his only brother, Raymond Edgar and wife Irene of Dubuque, IA, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brian Weary and his children Bryan and Samantha of Salina, KS, Eric Weary and his wife Nicole along with their children Alexandra and Nicolas all of Evergreen, CO, Bryce and Ross Edgar of Wichita, KS and Loren and Katie Edgar of Junction City, KS.
