Lillie Christine Stilwell of White City, KS, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the amazing age of 101 with family members by her side. She was a resident of the Chapman Valley Manor Nursing Home.

Lillie was born September 27, 1916 at Salina, Oklahoma, the youngest of nine children born to Fred & Margaret Ziegler. She graduated from Junction City High School class of 1934. In 1935 she earned a three year teacher's certificate from the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas. Miss Ziegler taught at two country schools, Half-Acre and Skiddy. She married Paul Stilwell on January 8, 1938 at the courthouse in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

Early in life, Lillie experienced living in several states: Oklahoma, Missouri, and New York. Lillie then went on to live in Van Nuys, California for five years with Paul. Their two children were born there. Afterward, the family moved to Skiddy, Kansas, which became their permanent home.

Lillie was a dedicated homemaker and farmer's wife. She raised a bountiful garden and canned her harvest. She enjoyed cooking and baking full-course meals for her family. "Granny" was most proud when family members gathered around her table. She was a member of the White City United Methodist Church and a devoted Christian.

She is survived by her loving family: daughter Margaret Yvonne and husband Howard Cook of Bartlesville, OK; son Paul Larry and wife Carol Stilwell of White City, KS; five grandchildren Doug and wife Laurie Cook, Mark and wife Carol Stilwell, Kristi and husband Rich Nottelmann, Monty and wife Kimberly Stilwell, and Dan Cook; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Stilwell, parents Fred & Margaret Ziegler, her six sisters, and 2 brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in White City, KS. A visitation will be held and hour prior to service at the church. Burial will follow at the Skiddy Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White City United Methodist Church, 204 W. McKenzie St., White City, KS 66872 or Chapman Valley Manor, 1009 N. Marshall St., Chapman, KS 67431.
