Lillie Mae Holland, 90, of Junction City, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City. Lillie was born April 27, 1927 in Aragon, Georgia, the daughter of Homer and Ida Lou Jane (Curtis) Nichelson. She was raised in Aragon and attended schools there.
She married Harold Holland on March 17, 1942 in Aragon. They moved to Kansas in 1951. Lillie was a homemaker, raising 8 children. Harold died November 17, 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Jerry Holland, Topeka; 5 daughters, Wanda Mathis, Sylvia Nelson and her husband Dan, Terri Hammond and her husband Marcus, Karen Wetklow-Doyle and her husband Ron, all of Junction City; and Janice Moore and her husband Alan, Salt Lake City, Utah; a half-Brother, Larry Nichelson, who lives in Alabama; and a sister, Marie Couey, Rome, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. Lillie was preceded in death by her sons, Homer Holland and Harold Holland, Jr., a sister, and a half-sister.
It was Lillie's wish to be cremated.
A memorial service and a private family inurnment service will be scheduled at a later date.
Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
