Lillie A. Smith, 59, of Junction City, KS passed away at Geary Community Hospital on January 5, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2009, at the Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Leonard Gray officiating. A visitation will be held 10~11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division ,1100 Pennsylvania Avenue Kansas City, Missouri 64105. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with the services.
Lillie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on September 28, 1949, to Silas and Willie Mae (Jones) Smith.
Lillie attended Junction City High School and later attended Manhattan Vo-Tech where she obtained her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lillie loved the Lord and professed Christ as her Savior.
Lillie is survived by one son Mitchell Jones of St. Louis, Missouri and one grandson Kevin B. Jones who she raised as her own. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Mitchell Jones II of Manhattan, KS, Issaih, Brittany and Jervelle; three great-grandchildren DaTorian, Kevin and Lilliana of Salina, KS. She also leaves to mourn three sisters, Ardette Phillips, Linda Murphy of Junction City, KS and Debra Bevier of Topeka, KS; six brothers, Harold Smith of Tulsa, OK., Silas Smith of Las Vegas, NV., Johnnie Smith, Howard Smith, Richard Smith and Michael Smith of Junction City, KS. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved and cared for her very much.
Lillie was preceded in death by one son, her mother and father, one brother, one sister and one great niece.
