Lillian Marie Young, 82, of Junction City, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Episcopal Church of The Covenant, 314 N. Adams Street, Junction City, KS, with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS between the hours of 6:00PM and 8:00PM. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery following the service. Following the graveside services there will be a reception in Guild Hall at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant.
She was born April 12, 1925 in Chicago, Ill. Her parents were John J. and Emily Ballentine Alexa. She attended and graduated from High School in Junction City. She was a Federal Civil Service employee for a short time before accepting the position of Secretary to the Geary County Clerk. Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She was proud of raising four children and being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She married Lawrence M. Young on July 3, 1946 at the First Methodist Church, Junction City. He survives. She is also survived by three daughters, Tanna Marie Ebert of Manhattan; Christine Lee Carroll of Montclair, VA; Valerie Ann Darland of Junction City; 1 son, David J. Young of Junction City; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and an active worker in the local chapter of the National Association of Retired and Active Employees (NARFE).
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Joseph, and one sister, Rose Marie Burks.
