To some family and friends he went by Ken. Ken was born in 1935 to John and Frances Isabel (Ashley) Andrew in Newton, MA. Their family moved to Metuchen, NJ where he attended high school and met his wife of 28 years, Sally Louis Cook formerly of South Bend, IN.
After High School, John joined the United States Army where he served from 1958 to 1980. During his career, he served in the artillery and then as an airborne ranger and eventually in the special forces. After attending officer candidate school he served thee tours in the Republic of Vietnam. His career took him across the globe as he served in Panama, Germany, Thailand as well as a host of posts in the United States. After his time in the service he enjoyed doing a variety of things before he found joy working as a "sometime" service manager for Jim Clark Chevrolet. Later he worked as a bonded driver or whatever they needed. He enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship of working more than anything else.
He was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Covenant in Junction City for many years. Ken volunteered for a variety of things but he was especially fond of the work he did with fellow parishioners in Haiti with the Haitian Episcopal Learning Project Foundation.
Children include John of Topeka, MaryAnn of Junction City, Michelle of Junction City and Janet of Emporia. He had eight grandchildren.
Ken was happiest surrounded by friends and family and he was known for countless acts of kindness that ranged from random to life changing acts for those that benefited. John enjoyed traveling and was a frequent visitor to his family and friends on the east coast.
