Lewis William Wolf, 88, of Manhattan, KS formerly of Junction City, KS died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Via Christi Village. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Bill Eisle will officiate. Mr. Wolf will lie in state one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Morganville, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geary County Senior Citizen Center, 1025 S. Spring Valley Road, Junction City, KS 66441.
Lewis was born March 3, 1924, in Waynoka, OK the son of Fred Johonnas and Ruth Elizabeth (Hartzel) Wolf. He graduated from Longford High School in Longford, KS. He attended Kansas State University for one year.
Lewis worked as a Civil Service Mechanic for many years prior to his retirement. Lewis and his brother Cloyd owned and operated Wolf Brothers Body Shop. He also worked for Coates Chevrolet Body Shop. He enjoyed bird hunting, dancing, water skiing and playing with the grandchildren. He had a passion for young people, especially coaching baseball and softball and teaching them how to water ski.
He married Nola Marie Anderson November 26, 1945, in Concordia, KS. She passed away December 3, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Dana Wolf and his wife DeLane of Junction City and one daughter Connie Forkenbrock and her husband Ron of Manhattan, KS. Other survivors include five granchildren, Jeff Forkenbrock, Scott Forkenbrock and his wife Jennifer, Brad Forkenbrock, Jana Stephenson and her husband Eli, Melodi Calvert and her husband Tim. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Blake Mathis, Chase Mathis, Jewel Stephenson, Hope Stephenson, Grant Calvert and Bennett Calvert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Darwin, Bernace and Cloyd and two sisters Wava and Letha.
