Leonard " Glenn" Taylor of Junction City, Ks. passed away at Geary Community Hospital on May 12, 2016 at the age of 89.
Glenn was born in Keats, Ks. on November 5, 1926 to Lloyd and Margaret (Whitaker) Taylor. He spent his childhood on the family dairy farm in Keats. In 1945 he was drafted into military service for WWII. and served 18 months until honorably discharged as a Seaman, 1st Class from the SeaBees. After his military service, Glenn worked electrical construction until starting with KPL in 1953. After 38 years, Glenn retired in 1991 as an Assistant General Foreman. Glenn was a member of Union Lodge #7, A.F. & A.M. in Junction City, the IBEW Local #304, and the Pierce Keller Post #17 of the American Legion in Manhattan.
In 1953 Glenn married Sue Van Pelt. They made their home south of Junction City and later divorced. He married Carol Rush in 1987. They spent their retirement traveling, enjoying grandkids and staying social. Carol preceded Glenn in death in 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Taylor.
Glenn is survived by his son Rusty Taylor (Sharon), daughter Glenda Hendrickson (Robert); a sister, Evelyn Carr; grandchildren Shawn Vaughan (Keely), Chris Prolago (Santa), Megan Prolago, Wyatt Hendrickson, Amber Hendrickson, Lyndsi Hendrickson, Thomas Collins and Robin Collins; great grandchildren Keegan, Kiyara and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 19th from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell Gabel Junction City Chapel. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 20th at 10 a.m., at the funeral home followed by burial at Skiddy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Geary County Home Health & Hospice.
