A memorial gathering will be held at Johnson Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 12, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Leonard B. "Swede" Devenney, 80, of Junction City, KS(Cremation is planned). Leonard died April 9, 2002 at Geary Community Hospital, burial will be private. No memorial has been designated. Leonard was born July 27, 1921, Junction City Kansas, to Willard L. and Ada O. (Buckley) Devenney. Leonard graduated from Junction City High School, he received his degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. He married Elizabeth Bohn in 1981 in New Orleans, she preceded
him in death in 1989. Leonard served in the Army Air Corp as a 1st LT during WWII from 1943-1945 after the war he worked internationally for 30 years then returned to Junction City in 1982 farming for the last 20 years. Survivors include Two Sons; Keith G. Devenney of Dallas, TX and Craig D. Devenney of Katy, TX,One Daughter; Sharon C. Devenney of Austin, TX, Two Brothers; Keith F. Devenney of Junction City, KS and Glenn G. Devenney of Shreveport, LA and Two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Three Brothers; Raymond, Ralph and Lyle (Ham)Devenney.
