Leodell Spence

Funeral services for Leodell Spence, Jr. 56 of Topeka, KS will be 2 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Tony Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Mr. Spence passed away at Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka, KS on December 9, 2007. Memorial contributions may be given to The Valeo Behavioral Health Care, 5401 SW 7th St., Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel is assisting the family with service arrangements.

Mr. Spence was born July 26, 1951, Okinawa, Japan to Leodell and Lillian (Carter) Spence, Sr. He was a long time resident of Junction City and attended Junction City High School. He excelled in sports, basketball being his favorite. He attended Pratt Junior College on a basketball scholarship. He was currently working at Valeo Bahavioral Health Care as a drug and alcohol counselor while attending Washburn University and was due to graduate May 2008 with his Bachelor's Degree. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a wife; Connie Spence of Houston, TX, four children; Terence Adams of Overland Park, KS, Martina Schomaker of Mililani, HI, Rasheena Spence of Houston, TX and Antoinette Conwell of Junction City, KS, two sisters; Delores West of Baldwin Park, CA and Francine Smith of Junction City, KS and one brother; Herman Spence of Detroit, MI and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents

Pallbearers will be Paul Costigan, William Hall, Darrell Spencer, Tommy Vann, Brad Sloan and Gary King.
