A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel for Lelia May Tork, 94, Junction City, Kansas. Pastor James H. Callaway will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Milford Cemetery. A visitation will take place 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Tork passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Casket bearers will be Jordan Kelly, Aaron Attebury, Roger Sheaffer, Mike Charland, Mick Wunder and Tony Wunder. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Ryan Tork, Christopher Tork, Terry Wunder, Tim Wunder and Kenny Sheaffer. Memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Center 416 W. Spruce Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Lelia was born December 7, 1912, in Pittsboro, Mississippi, the youngest of four children to Levy and May Belle (Mitchell) Benning.
Lelia has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center from July 2006 until the time of her death. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Center where she had made many friends and loved to visit, play bingo or participate in many other activities.
She married Otto Wunder, they later divorced. She later married Lavender J. Tork. He passed away July 1978.
Lelia was a waitress at various restaurants in Junction City.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Tork and his wife Mengie of Clinton, Maryland, Leroy Carl Wunder and his wife Eldora of Vermillion, South Dakota and Gene E. Wunder of Niland, California. She is also survived by three daughters, Gloria Hayter and her husband Earl, Jackie Langvardt and her husband Larry and Marcine Sheaffer and her husband David all of Junction City. She is survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one daughter Wanda Cohen, one son William (Bill) Wunder, two granddaughters and two great grandsons.
