Lawrence Whatley, 84, of Junction City, KS, died on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Cremation will take place. A graveside service with military honors will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Lawrence was born June 26, 1937, in Cleveland, OH the son of Luther and Bertha (Fisher) Whatley.

Lawrence served in the United States Army. After his retirement from the Army, he owned and operated Red Carpet Cleaning for many years in Junction City. He was a Mason. At one time, he was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge # 91 in Junction City.

He married Wilhelmine Mehrlein September 27, 1963 in Germany at the Johnson Barracks in Furth, Germany.

Survivors include his wife Wilhelmine of the home in Junction City, KS; two sons, Lawrence "Larry" Whatley, II (Lorrie Torres) of Junction City, KS and Heinz Whatley (Wanda) of Warner Roberts, GA; one daughter, Cindy (Whatley) Mayer of Nueberg an der Donau, Germany fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bertha Robinson; one brother and two sisters.
